Aunt Arctic's Article #41

Hello, penguins!

Welcome to another edition of Aunt Arctic’s Article. Last time, we continued our series of Music Jam interviews with DJ Maxx! This week, I sat down with the Penguin Band to hear what they have to say about the festivities!

A Jam with the Penguin Band!

Aunt Arctic: Franky, G Billy, Petey K, Stompin’ Bob, it’s a pleasure having you all here to chat with me!

Stompin’ Bob: It’s good to be here, Aunt Arctic. Thanks for having us!

Aunt Arctic: Now, you guys have been a part of this island for quite some time now. You all had very different paths before coming together as a band. Care to provide more details?

G Billy: Yeah! So, for a while I was working in the Pizza Parlor as a chef. Across the island one night, there was an open mic in the Coffee Shop and that’s where I met Stompin’ Bob, who was an aspiring songwriter. Together, we formed the Penguin Band.

Franky: Petey and I actually met each other while working in the Pet Shop, and we quickly became friends while sharing our love of music.

Petey K: Eventually, the two pairs met up and we became the Penguin Band!

Aunt Arctic: What a fun story! Throughout your years as a band, you’ve also rebranded a couple times, correct?

Stompin’ Bob: Yeah, so for a brief period of time we actually all wore matching cowboy hats. We even played some different instruments, I played the cello instead of electric bass.

Franky: Yep, I lean more towards the keyboard now, but I still play the acoustic guitar occasionally!

Petey K: I swap between the accordion and electric guitar.

G Billy: Drums forever and always, haha.

Stompin’ Bob: We also thought it would be a real cool gimmick if each of us resembled a different genre of music. It also just so happens we all enjoy different genres of music. I chose rock, Franky chose pop, Billy chose country and Petey chose jazz.

Aunt Arctic: I had a feeling that’s what you were going for, it’s such a cool idea! Back to the present day, what do you guys enjoy most about this year’s Music Jam?

Franky: It’s really nice seeing everyone again, it’s been so long! We’re trying our best to get out and see them as much as we can!

Petey K: For sure, it’s always nice to show everybody how thankful we are of their support.

G Billy: It’s great jammin’ out on so many stages with them, or even having a nice chill chat Backstage to catch up!

Stompin’ Bob: And of course, it’s very cool to see so many penguins turn out for our performance of Better Days at the Iceberg each day. They’re the reason we do what we do!

Aunt Arctic: It’s always great to see artists be so kind to their fanbase. Is there anything else you wish to say before you head off?

Petey K: We’ll be here all week! Haha.

Stompin’ Bob: He’s right, and be sure to check out the gifts we left for you guys in the Party Pass! Cadence and Maxx left stuff for you too!

Franky: I think it’s also important to say thank you to everyone!

G Billy: Ready guys? 1… 2… 3…

Penguin Band: THANK YOUUUU!!!!

Aunt Arctic: It’s been wonderful chatting with the four of you, thank YOU for your time!

Petey K: No no, thank YOU, Aunt Arctic.

Franky: Thank YOU, for reminding us to thank Aunt Arctic, Petey.

Ask Aunt Arctic

Dear Aunt Arctic,

What is your favorite kind of music? Do your puffles enjoy the same kind of music?

- TheNitronic

Dear TheNitronic,

I enjoy many genres of music! If I’m being honest, it all depends on the kind of day I’m having!

If I’m having a good day, I tend to listen to pop music. Meanwhile, on not so good days, I tend to listen to rock. When I want to relax, I tend to listen to orchestra music, and the list goes on!

My puffles tend to enjoy dancing with me, especially during country music. They love a good square dance!

Dear Aunt Arctic,

If you could instantly master any skill in the world, no practice needed, what would you choose and why?

- douceur

Dear douceur,

Being able to do something like that would be quite the luxury! One of the first things that comes to mind for me is to master the ancient art of Card-Jitsu, as I find myself having very little time to do so.

With all of the Music Jam festivities occurring, I would love to master playing an instrument. I’ve dabbled a bit in electric guitar, but it wasn’t the best playing!

However, it’s always important to remember that the destination is not the most important part, it’s the trip itself! In other words, practice is what makes it rewarding!

Poetry

On an Iceberg stage so cold and bright,

Penguins jam beneath the night.

With flippers strumming, beats so loud,

They thrill a snowy, fishy crowd.

Their igloos glow with colored light,

They party long into the night.

From berg to berg, the legends grow—

Of rocking birds in ice and snow!

- itaroo

Igloo, oh so warm and cozy,

My perfect little home.

A place where everyone can stay,

and call their very own.
