Mancala and Game Leaderboards!

Mancala and Game Leaderboards!

Hey Penguins!

Hope you've all been hanging out at the Ski Hill this past week, racing with your friends, or grinding the new Sled Racing stamps. We've got some exciting news to share with you all. Along with the addition of Sled Racing that arrived last week, we've also took the time to add another new multiplayer minigame that was from the original, Mancala! It's now available for you to play with your buddies at the Book Room, complete with the satisfying sound effects you heard in the original. If you don't know how to play, well, I don't either, so don't get discouraged. Be sure to click on the instructions poster in the Book Room or ask your buddies to teach you how to play. Thanks to the Yukon project for helping us bring this minigame to life.

Take a visit to the Book Room and play some Mancala with your friends!

Game Leaderboards

With that, we're also announcing a brand new special feature that is arriving to our island, which is Game Leaderboards! This has been something we've been eyeing on closely for the last few months, so we're really excited to have the time to sit down and develop this into the game. With the release of both Sled Racing and Mancala in the last couple weeks, the team thinks it's the perfect opportunity to introduce Leaderboards into the game to encourage more people to play multiplayer experiences with friends.

Climb to the top of the leaderboard to earn stamps and cool rewards!

Your leaderboard placement is determined by the amount of wins and your games played. In the event of a tie, we will use the higher win percentage as a secondary sort to determine who ranks higher than the other Penguin. The main leaderboard will reset every Monday at 12am Penguin Standard Time. We also have an "All Time" Leaderboard to see which Penguin ranks the highest all-time respectively in each leaderboard.

What are the rewards for ascending the leaderboard? We have two brand new stamps for you to earn from these Leaderboards. You'll be able to receive a stamp if you reach the top 10 in any leaderboard game, and also an EXTREME stamp for those who make it to the top in any of the leaderboard games.

Introducing 2 new stamps available for collection!

On top of the Leaderboard stamps, the top ranked player in any game will receive a shiny golden pin with the game that they have ranked first in, along with the trophy hand item! Those who have topped the Leaderboard will also receive a bonus for all games for the following week. This bonus can be applied to every minigame on the island. WOW! Lots of cool incentives to try and climb the ranks on the leaderboards.

Here's a first look at what to expect from the "Trophy" item awarded to the top ranked player

Don't worry, we aim to add more games to the Leaderboard, especially single player games. Keep your eyes peeled in the future for updates to the leaderboard when we add new games. Single player games will use a point system rather than Win/Win %. We've soft launched the Leaderboards today so feel free to test it out this weekend as we fix any last minute bugs. We aim to officially start the game leaderboards on Monday, March 13th at 12am Penguin Standard Time. All games starting now will count toward your all-time rankings, however.

Sled Racing Stamps

We've released a collection of Sled Racing stamps during the release of Sled Racing and we've went ahead and patched up any bugs with them this week. We've also gone ahead and added three additional Sled Racing stamps that you can earn. A very special thanks to our artist Shovel for creating the artwork for these stamps, along with elements of the new Queue screen and also the remastered artwork of the game itself! The cool Penguin designs that you see in the queue is from our artist, Mar. They are all very talented individuals.

Here are the new Sled Racing stamps that are now available starting today.

Three new Sled Racing stamps are now available!

St. Patrick's Day Event

If you haven't already heard the news, our next event starts next Friday (March 17th) at 3pm Penguin Standard Time. It's the St. Patrick's Day Event! This event will be a nostalgia-trip down memory lane where you can experience the original St. Patrick's Day Party along with some small minor remastered features. Island Quests will also be returning so keep your eyes peeled for special Irish-themed quests.

A sneak preview into our St. Patrick's Day Event starting March 17th.

Along with the event celebration, we'll also be selecting a bunch of lucky Penguins per day to give out a special St. Patrick's themed ITEM! Be on the lookout daily to increase your odds of getting these items. Don't worry if you aren't able to collect these themed items. We will be doing these yearly starting this year.

Wrapping Up

Hope everyone has a pleasant weekend coming up. April is almost here, and you know what that means? It's almost time to get a LITTLE silly. Also, have you been keeping track of what's been happening at the Dojo? It's still snowing! All our progress of digging out the Dojo is going in ruins! If you have nothing else to do and you're bored, grab a few friends and go help the mysterious Penguin continue digging out the Dojo before the snow starts to pile up faster than we can dig!

That's all the news for now. Until then... Waddle on!
