Hey Penguins,

Our first event of 2023 is finally upon us, it's called the Extreme Sled Race Event and it will help us kick off our brand new multiplayer experience, Sled Racing arriving on March 4th. We're super excited to unveil this event to you all. We've made sure that you have a lot to do, whether its grinding the all-new party stamps that are available (Trust us, there are a plentiful amount of those!) or completing the ALL-NEW ISLAND QUESTS, you'll never run out of things to do during the Extreme Sled Race event.

This blog post was created for everyone to get a good understanding of how the event works, so you know exactly how to spend your time during the event.

Unlock Items Online

To start things off, we're going to be giving away a brand new Unlock Items code for everyone. You can find this code on our Twitter at https://catchwav.es/Twitter when the party arrives. It's the Fish Dog Vendor Pouch and Fish Dog Vendor Cap. You'll need these items if you want to complete one of the new Island quests that will be arriving with this event. Just make sure you keep your eyes peeled when the time comes so you can grab the items and complete that objective.

Island Quests

That's right, you'll soon have way more things to do everyday on the island. For this event, we're introducing Island Quests, and this system will be used for all future parties and other activities. Each time you complete an Island Quest, you'll be given Coins depending on the difficulty of these Island Quests. The difficulty system is the exact same as our stamps system, from Easy to Extreme. Easy will reward the least amount of Coins where Extreme would reward the most. Take a look at how this interface will look like in game.

You can toggle the interface by clicking the "!" icon that you'll find on the right corner of your game interface.

We've also prepared this handy chart for you so you know exactly how many Coins you'll earn from completing the Quests. Take a look for yourself.

And lastly, if you finish all the Island Quests before the event departs on March 5th, you'll be rewarded the Tame Arctic Fox item. This item is exclusive to this year's Extreme Sled Race Event and won't be returning after it has departed, so make sure you complete all your Island Quests if you want to obtain this rare item!

New Event Stamps

With the arrival of the activity stamps just a couple months ago, we're also introducing at least 4 new event-driven stamps that can be collected during the party. Some are easy, while others are more challenging. Here is a look at all the stamps that will be available for collection during this event. Don't worry if you aren't able to obtain all of them, there will be plenty of opportunities later down the line to collect these stamps.

As for the Snowboarder stamp, this is an event-driven stamp, meaning that you aren't able to earn this stamp outside of events such as the Extreme Sled Race event.

What do I expect from this event?

A lot of snow-filled adventure and fun! There are 2 brand new puzzles for you to complete to make your way to the Tallest Mountain. Here is a glimpse at them, you may be familiar with some of these from our Mountain Expedition event back in August, however we've completely recoded the puzzles to make it more enjoyable and fun for you. The Icicle Cavern is returning this party, and we're also introducing the puzzle from the Mountain room that wasn't available during the Mountain Expedition. It's a tricky one, so hope you're ready for it!

The Base Camp has also been renovated with seating and a giant television screen so you can hang out with your buddies and also watch other Penguins take on the extreme track for Sled Racing. Additionally, new catalog items will be available at the Supply Camp so you can buy all-new snowboards and snow gear for your expedition.

Aunt Arctic Meetups

If you missed the Aunt Arctic Expedition background from Mountain Expedition in August, now is the perfect time for you to grab it! This is one of the rarest mascot backgrounds on Club Penguin Legacy, only 0.75% of our community has it, so don't miss out on this exclusive opportunity. For those who already have her stamp and the Expedition background, you do not want to miss out on these Aunt Arctic visits as you will need to meet her at least once to complete one of your Island quests. Remember, you cannot earn the Tame Arctic Fox item without completing all island quests.

With that being said, there will be meetups happening daily during the event, as well, we will try to accommodate to every timezone possible.

Sled Racing Release

This event is ultimately to celebrate the release and launch of our new multiplayer minigame, Sled Racing, so it wouldn't make sense for us to not spill some additional details regarding the release and launch of the full game. Sled Racing in its entirety will be released on March 4th, with the new stamps and the full track available at the Ski Hill.

Which basically means, you won't be able to use the normal track layouts at the Ski Hill on the opening day of the party. We will however, be soft launching the game at the Mountain Top where you can go and sled the Extreme track version of Sled Racing. This allows us to iron out and fix any outstanding last minute bugs so that the full release is as bug-free as possible.

Extreme Track

The Extreme track is... welll... EXTREME! It's over a minute and a half long and is intense, by far the most difficult track of the minigame. You'll be able to race with four penguins at the top of the Mountain during the event, and on the first day, this track will be the only one open until March 4th, when the full game is released. We ask that you please be patient with us on the first day as we are soft-launching the game, meaning you could expect bugs and extremely long queue times for the game as there will be an increased demand for the Sled Racing minigame.

If you're unable to play the Extreme track on opening day, don't worry as it will be available throughout the entire weekend.

Wrap Up

We hope that everyone enjoys this weekend's festivities! We had a blast working on this project, from Sled Racing to this entire event. We put a lot of effort in overhauling Sled Racing and also working on the brand new Island Quest system. Throughout the event, those who have opted in for In-Game surveys will get the opportunity to provide us feedback on the new Island Quest system and you will be rewarded for completing the survey. If you haven't already, be sure to go into General Settings, scroll down to the second page, and OPT-IN!
